Homestake Lodge

Homestake Lodge is located beneath the Continental Divide just three miles from Interstate-90 and 15 minutes from Butte, MT. Its a fabulous setting with miles of trails through gently rolling terrain of meadows, evergreens, aspens, and beaver ponds. Incredible granite cliffs and rock croppings frame the trail making for interesting scenery.

Homestake Lodge is a great venue for a Montana Outdoor Wedding and Reception. The Lodge and facilities are also available for other special events such as rehearsal dinners, reunions, and business retreats. Check www.homestakelodge.com for more details.

Our lodge is brand new for the 2008 - 2009 season. It consists of a great room with a fireplace, tables and chairs, a commercial kitchen, 2 bunkrooms, which sleep 8-12 people, a wax room, bathrooms and showers and a full service ski shop.

We have 35km of groomed trails, as well as a 2km lighted ski loop for evening hours. About 10km of the trail network are dog-friendly.

We will have (summer 2009) a yurt available for a ski-in ski-out rental. It is located 1-2km from the lodge right off the trail.

The terrain has as much variability as you'd like for your ski experience. There are gentle climbs, thrilling downhills, easy flats and open meadows perfect for chatting with friends and soaking up the rays.

There will be three types of trails designed to suit the different interests of cross-country skiers.

1. 12' wide groomed trails for skating and classic. These trails will be maintained with a Pisten Bully.

2. Adventure trails which are 4-6' wide and groomed with a snowmobile for classic and/or skate. These trails are old-school style and will take you back to an era when trails were narrow and twisted and turned through the woods.

3. Touring trails which are not groomed. These narrow trails take you away from it all and get you close to nature.

Directions
Homestake Lodge is located just three miles off the I-90 Homestake Pass exit 233. Drive times from Bozeman and Helena are about 1 hour to 1hour and fifteen minutes. Missoula is just 2 hours away, and Butte is only a 10 mile drive away. Once you get off the Homestake exit, head to the south side of I-90 and turn onto FS 240. This will be straight off the ramp coming from the Butte direction, and it will be a right after the ramp and then a left turn after crossing over the interstate coming from the Bozeman direction. FS 240 road is in the opposite direction from Homestake Lake/Campground, and Lake Delmoe. Drive down FS 240 for 3 miles. After 3 miles, you will go under the big electrical transmission lines and there will be a road on your right. This will be the road into Homestake Lodge.
