Location & Getting Here:

33 miles northwest of Dillon, off Hwy 278, in southwest Montana. May be reached from the north from MT Hwy 43. Nearest airport is Butte, about one hour north on I-15. Daily north-south bus service to Dillon.
One of Montana's better-kept secrets lies in the pristine mountain valleys in the southwest corner of the state. The mountains are the Pioneers and the place is the Grasshopper and Big Hole Valley region. The trail system follows a scenic route between Wise River and the Grasshopper Valley, a designated National Forest Scenic Byway.
 
  TRAILS:
Trails lead to the ghost town of Coolidge and the Elkhorn mine. Major groomed trails heading west tie into the Wisdom/Jackson trail system at Bear Lake (see Wisdom/Jackson) and head north to the Wise River trail system (see Wise River). Heading south to Reservoir Lake you can join the trails of the Salmon, Idaho snowmobiling club.
